Internship Opportunities


Are you looking for an incredible summer opportunity to use your Talents, Skills, Creativity, and Career Interest to InspireEngage, and Encourage middle and high school students to Discover their Passion and prepare their pathway to get there?  If so, the Vickery Meadow Eagle Scholars college-readiness Internship was designed with you in mind!



During the 8-week summer program, you will:
  • Inspire your small group of students by developing meaningful experiences and project-based activities within your career field
  • Engage students by working with them to seek out the answers to their questions and discover new learning opportunities
  • Encourage students to discover their passion and work proactively to fulfill their dreams
  • Discover an amazing group of teenagers from many different countries who speak many different languages…all with the same goal of furthering their education and being successful in life.  

The EAGLE Scholars Internship begins the 1st full week in June and runs for eight (8) consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.



Interns are employed through the AmeriCorps program, which works in conjunction with the EAGLE Scholars program. 



Interns must meet AmeriCorps qualifications and training requirements in order to serve with EAGLE Scholars. Interns will receive a living allowance of $1,800 and a $1,195 education award after completing their 300 hours of summer service.

FAQs : frequently asked questions

Do I have to have a Bachelors degree or teacher certification ?No, but we need to be in college or graduate recently.


What is the interview process like ?
Ms.Janet and Ms.Tiffany they ask a questions about like what we have learn , do after college and strengths and weaknesses. They asked what we would bring to the table, what we can teach.

Do we work Monday to Friday ? 

Work hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm. Time off requires Director approval no less than 48 hours in advance, preferably sooner and must be a situation that is unavoidable. Americorps requires a minimum of 300 hours be met by end of the EAGLE Scholars program.

 Any days off?

 No more than two days can be missed in order to complete these hours. If a day or partial day is missed for good reason, Interns must attend one or more evening events to make up for the lost hours.In the event that an Intern is absent, they must make arrangements with their co-teacher to ensure all of their classes are adequately covered. Please note and understandthat Staff Attendance is just as important as Student Attendance.


What kind of training will I have to go through ? We had 2 days of training with americorps and 1 weeks of training with Eagle Scholars director. Do I get to choose what I teach and what grades ? For the most part yes.When interviewed you are asked questions that let Ms.Janet know what your skills are and this helps them set up subjects for you to teach the kids.


What is the dress code ?While at the building staff should wear clothing appropriate with DISD dress codeJeans without holes/tears/fraysSkirts/shorts-­‐can’t be shorter than 1 inch above the kneeT-­‐Shirts-­‐no slangs, gang symbols, and/or derogatory messagesNo revealing clothing (midriff, bra straps exposed, underwear exposed)No flip flopsNo see through clothing, cut off clothingNo spandex/lycra pantsNo sagging
